A Gift For Fran
I woke up around 3:30 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep. Boy do I hate that. Especially when I have to go to work. Anyway I knew that I had an appointment with Fran (she's a nutritionist) today after work and that I wouldn't see her till after the new year. She loves handmade cards and so as I was trying to get back to sleep and couldn't, I laid there and put this card together in my head. I got out of bed and pulled out my Bella Toile stamp and combined it with the new Vintage Vogue "F" friend stamp (coming soon in the new mini) in Old Olive ink. Added some of the new awesome satin ribbon which will also be available January 5th in the Occasions Mini Catalog. I made four of them and put them in a clear plastic box with more ribbon. Needless to say Fran was touched. And now I bid you farewell as I go off to bed and hopefully get a good night's sleep. If not you may see another card here tomorrow!

Gone to the Dogs!
Today I took Mr. Darcy to be groomed and boy did he need it. I always like to make a card to put a tip in for the groomer and since it was the holidays I thought instead of reindeer, I would stamp a dog from the D is for Dog set in Christmas colors. By the way Mr. Darcy looked so cute when I picked him up. The girls had put a red collar on him with bells!

Trying to Catch Up
I forever feel like I'm constantly apologizing for not keeping up with this blog which I love. These past few months have been crazy with work, stamping, classes, and health issues. I found out yesterday that I have a torn tendon in my foot which explains the pain and swelling I have been experiencing this past year and a half. I just thought it was just my arthritis and that I should deal with it but at least now I can do something about it. Last night I went to my demo meeting at my upline's house. We had a potluck dinner, exchanged handmade stamped gifts and made some awesome projects with some of them from the new mini. Love that milk carton sissix die! Anyway I only scheduled two classes this month because I know a lot of people are stressed and busy and so am I but I hope to play a little this weekend and get some new cards and projects posted for you. I hope you all have a great weekend and stay warm wherever you may live! Check back tomorrow! Smiles. Debbie

Thankful
I haven't posted in over a week now and I found myself saying everyday that I would post that night and every night I went to bed thinking another day has gone by and I haven't posted again! But my week has been filled with a dear friend who was admitted to the hospital which meant I went between work and the hospital and then did what I had to at home. I thought of a lot of other things I didn't get done either but as I finally sit down to write this tonight I have to say that I should and am thankful for what I did get done. I did get to have my card classes and I did go to work. There are a lot of people without jobs right now so I am happy I have one. My friend did get to go home from the hospital and it wasn't as serious as it could have been. My family is healthy and wonderful and I finally made this card!!!! I used the set Autumn Splendor and the DSP Autumn Meadows. Wish I had more time to use this set but I know after Thanksgiving it will be Christmas, Christmas, Christmas. Thanks for listening.

A Christmas Gift
Simplicity In A Tree
This is a card the 10-10-20 class will be making this weekend. After stamping for so many years simple doesn't always seem enough but I like the clean lines and simplicity of this card. Hope you like it too.

Christmas Gift Cards
These are two gift card holders I am making for a "One Stop Shopping "event next Saturday. The one on the left uses one of the Hostess sets called Christmas Punch and the other uses one of the cute snowmen in the Holiday Mini Hostess set. You can change his hat and add different accessories but I would strongly suggest using the Stamp-a-ma-jig if you do. Once you learn how to use it you will have had an "aha" moment. You will save yourself a lot of time and frustration not to mention paper and ink!

Bittersweet Halloween
This is our dog Missy who my husband calls the GD (the good dog) and this is one reason why she is so good. She let me put this silly devil's costume on her and even went out in public down the street for a walk this afternoon. She didn't even try to take it off. Unlike the LD (lucky dog as my husband refers to Darcy) who did not like his Monsters, Inc. hat.
These costumes were bought for them by my dear friend Linda who I'm sure was trying to cheer me up and it worked. Yesterday we had to put one of our dogs, Balou, to sleep. He was 15 years old and was a rescue dog so I feel like he had a pretty good life. But it doesn't make it any easier to let them go. The vet came out to the house and after he was gone my husband buried Balou in the back yard next to a menagerie of other pets that have been lost over the years. Goats, chickens, rabbits, and other dogs. They become like your kids and no matter how mad they sometimes make you, the unconditional love they give is priceless. I will miss you Balou......

Friends in A Box
This is a project that Jen Picard created and I just loved how easy the box was to make to hold a set of cards. Thanks Jenn! I wanted to case her actual project but didn't have the right DSP (drats) so used Autumn Traditions instead with the 24-7 stamp set. Did you notice that I used a corduroy button? I love these buttons and tend to hoard them. I don't know why...... maybe I need to see a therapist!!!!!

Holiday Recipe Album
Katie Going to a Wedding
This is my beautiful daughter Katie playing around before going to a wedding. I love her little blue cocktail dress. She got up early to go get her hair done and put this neat little peacock feather in her hair. I was so glad to have her and my oldest daughter home for the weekend. The only bad part is the weekend just goes by way too fast!!!

Mojo Monday
Well here it is way past my bedtime and I am determine to get this card posted. I had a list of things to do and this was one of them. The other was to mail a package off today and I forgot it was a holiday and the post office was closed! Had letters in the mailbox too!! I am sure I was not alone on that blooper. So I decide to stick with traditional Christmas colors and used Glorious Green and Real Red. I then decided to use the unconventional Circle Circus stamps for my background and More the Merrier Hostess set for the snowmen. Aren't they so so cute?
I then used my Ornament Punch that is in the Holiday mini with Glorious Green cardstock and the Merry Christmas stamp is from the Delightful Decorations stamp set which is also in the Holiday mini. So tell me what you think? I am going to bed now. 6 am comes too quickly.

A Treat For You!
Just a quick little treat you can make with the Petal card die. Just fold three sides and apply an extra piec of Cast A Spell DSP to the front and wrap with a ribbon or as I did here, use the Trick or Treat stamp from the hostess selection, Holiday Best. Oh and the best part..... a piece of chocolate!! Yum Yum.

Shabby Chic
Just finished this card for another swap. I love this new hostess set, Patterned Pines that is shown in the Holiday Mini Catalog. There are three trees on one stamp but I cut them out separately and mounted them. I used the snowflake punch to make two flakes and overlapped them. I used Certain Celery, Real Red, and Very Vanilla.
A Green Thumb
So I was getting to go to my downline meeting when my husband said he wanted to show me something neat outside behind the fire truck (yes I said firetruck!). As I followed him out I said, "It isn't a snake is it?" As I walked around the back of the truck my husband was saying how he threw this old dead (or so he thought) mum plant out under the pines last year and today he was walking out back and noticed this huge plant in full bloom! Amazing.

Day Two in The New Stamp Room
It has been a whirlwind these past 16 hours. Two stamp classes back to back in the new room. The wood floors aren't down yet but that didn't stop us from stamping our hearts out today. My husband is amazing and helped me set up for the classes. Then my daughters came home from Richmond to help me with the rest of the decorations and snack preparation. I have such an awesome family. The ladies made 9 Christmas cards and 1 Halloween cards. I can't believe it but they are ready to do another class!!! That made me feel good since I was a little nervous doing so many cards in one class. Thanks to you special girls for making my day! Time to sit down, put my feet up and make up a class roster. Oh Hubby, I might have to quit my day job!!!! lol.
The New Stamp Room Is Launched!!!
I held my first stamp class last night in my new stamping room!!! We did 10 different Holiday cards. I was worried that it might be too much. NOT. Everyone had a good time and the ladies really got creative in making the cards their own. Thank you Linda, Nikki, Sally, Beth, and Paula for making my class a success! Here's to many many more times together here playing and have fun.

Monday, September 28, 2009
Isn't this the cutest little purse for holding notecards, or candy? My dear friend Tracey Old from New Zealand shared this project on Ustamp. I used the faux alligator technique for the flap and Night and Day Specialty DSP for the bottom. Do I hear CoCo Chanel? This only took me about 30 minutes to make. I started to make another one but wanted to get this posted and try to get to bed early tonight. I have been staying up late working on cards for classes and then looking at some of my favorite blogs, oohing and aahing at all the talent out there in this big old world. Before I know it, it's past my bedtime and 6 am is here in a flash.

Direct to Paper Mountains
So it's Peggy's birthday tomorrow at work and this is her birthday card. I cased it from Michelle Zindorf. I just love how she incorporates so much into one card. I used Branching out and the flowers and words are from the Charming set. By just using the edge of the stamp pad you can create mountains and trees. I felt like I was just scribbling but it turned out pretty neat. There are so many of her cards I want to try. I have been so busy this week cutting out paper for my classes this coming week. I got to watch the New York Yankees win their division today while I was cutting away. Love that Derek Jeter! Anyway I am working on my next group of Christmas Cards for another class. There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done that I want to do. I just need to win the lottery. That's all there is to it.

Build A Bear
This is a card I made for a swap with my upline Lisa Freeman. I didn't keep one and so Lisa sent me the one she had posted on her blog. I didn't think I would like this set since I don't have small children anymore but it actually was a lot of fun. I cut the bottom of her dress out of the Pawsitively Prints DSP in the Holiday Mini. The flowers is from Cheep Talk.

New Stamp Room -Under Construction
So I went to convention last month in Salt Lake City for six days and when I got home. Voila' A new almost completed stamp room by my husband and children!!! I couldn't believe it. I think my husband is tired of looking at the dining room and foyer full of stamping stuff. Whatever. I am just so excited I can hardly stand it. So the top picture is looking toward the stairs that go down into the kitchen. Still missing the railing. The second picture is the electrician, aka, my dear hubby, and the third picture is of course Mr. Darcy, aka, supervisor!! The fan, and lights are all up and the wood is sitting up there right now getting use to the temperature before it can be laid. Did you notice my daughters pick out certainly celery paint color for two of the walls? lol So I will post more pics later when the floor is down and the tables and chairs and whatever else I need like say, STAMPS, needs to go up there. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and am so appreciative of my family and their love.

A Rose is a Rose is a Box!
Well it took me a while to get this posted. I really like Becky Roberts work and this is one of her projects that I tried. I don't have a lot of 12x12 paper so had to use last years colors and DSP Bella Rose which doesn't upset me really because I love these colors. It was fun to do and was bigger than I expected but it will hold a gift such as candy as in CHOCOLATE and the drawer is perfect for a set of note cards. I made 4 different ones to go inside but just couldn't get a good angle to show them all at the same time so I will have to show them separate. Becky's project used Halloween paper and is really cute. Did I mention that CHOCOLATE fits nicely in the top of the box?

Pumpkin Candy Treat Gifts
So I was lying in bed last night thinking of what I had done yesterday and what I wanted to do today on "Labor" day. I had made Angie Juda's Mummy Treat box and had not seen a pumpkin done. Ah ha! Idea floating around in my head as I drifted off to sleep. A little sponging, a little punch art and Voila'! I did one with and without eyebrows. I was thinking of my Aussie friends and New Zealand friends who don't have Halloween over there and thought that at least they could make pumpkins!!! I used Old Olive ribbon to represent the stem! You probably figured that out already. Have a great day.

Got Chocolate? Snicker Snicker
This stamp is from the set "Twick or Tweet" and the DSP is
Cast-A-Spell. The black spikes were made from the large
star punch. This treat box was fun to make. See below to
see what is in side.

Tomatoes Coming out of My Ears!!!!
Fire Fighter To The Rescue
My husband and I were invited to a cookout this weekend and part of the reason the cookout was held was to help raise money for a couple's sixteen year old daughter who was recently diagnosed with non Hodgkins lymphoma. They are facing financial need and so we all thought we would help out. The hostess had tee shirts made for the fund raiser and sold them for $20. I made a set of Fire Fighter cards (since most of the guys there were firemen) and donated them to be sold as well. I'm sure there will be more of these fund raisers down the road. I am so thankful for healthy children but I know that that can change at anytime. I pray for Shelby and her parents to get through this trying time as fast as possible and without any serious side effects.

Fire Trucks
I have several different fire truck stamps and I wanted to get them all on this card instead of making three different ones. I was running out of time and needed to finish in order to get to the cookout on time.

Is This The Eiffel Tower?
So I thought I would do Di Gibbs first color challenge using Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive. I used the brayer and sponges with all the colors on Whisper White and used the tower from the Chic Boutique stamp set.

D is For Dog and Mr. Darcy
Whenever I have Mr. Darcy groomed, I always stamp a card
for the groomer. I used the D is For Dog set and a piece of the
Dusty Durango ribbon. Of course I put a little tip inside.

Dash Away!
This week Anne Bright gave us recipes for our Christmas Album. They all sound
so yummy. I hope to try them out in the next few weeks. They of course are all
low calorie. NOT!!!! Anyway this is the first card we made and my favorite. I use
the newSoft Suede to stamp Dasher and the new Soft Suede ribbon. I love how Stampin Up made the ribbon reversible. The snowflake is from Season of Friendship. Our recipe group had a really good time while making the cards and I once again forgot to take a picture of the group. Sorry guys. I promise I'll get one before we finish the album.
Holly Jolly
For this card in our recipe class we made the tree out of Corner Punches with some of last season's DSP. A very simple card and boy does this recipe scream YUMMO!
